Vegas oddsmakers had predicted the announcement for months, noting that Reggie’s academic and ministerial career has followed the interests and commitments he cultivated at YTI, where he began by serving as program assistant in 1994 and 1995. Reggie later served as Dean of the Summer Academy from 1997-1999.
His current work follows familiar trajectories. The Assistant Professor of Formation, Youth and Culture at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL, Reggie also serves as Senior Pastor of Arnett Chapel A.M.E. Church in Chicago. In his ongoing work with young people, Reggie continues to ask what “voices” form the identities of young people – and what it takes for the Church to become one of those voices. YTI media has also learned that Reggie continues to explore how to build meaningful, intergenerational faith communities. YTI, he notes, informs both questions.
Vegas knew it. We knew it. But are we missing something?
