Service
Exploratory Leaders and Mentors work together to integrate a service-learning component into Exploratory Courses, collaborating with local “communities of conscience” whose missions combine justice-seeking activism and ethical, moral or theological reflections. Through these contextual education experiences, scholars serve various communities in Atlanta while reflecting upon the multifaceted challenges faced by urban communities, the theological implications of these challenges, and theological resources for addressing them. Scholars report that the contextual experiences help them see the relevance of theological reflection to the world outside the church walls and helps them discern the practical implications of particular theological perspectives.
